ABOUT THE WORK

Artwork Description

A monumental 48x60 mixed media masterpiece, "The Resurgence of Serenity" is a phoenix-like rebirth of a former work, "Mindless Imaginings." This painting carries the history of its past life within its layers, creating a profound depth and narrative of transformation.

It presents a wintry dreamscape where a serene, winged woman emerges, her eyes closed in peaceful slumber.

A barn owl, a symbol of wisdom and intuition, perches upon her head, while a guiding hand reaches from the ether.

The painting is a veritable archive of hidden treasures and symbolic elements, each carefully integrated into a cohesive whole.

From cascading poppies and flowers with watchful eyes to broken jewelry and a metal sun, every object contributes to a story of memory, fragility, and ethereal beauty.

The palette of light blues, pinks, reds, and whites is illuminated with metallic golds and silvers, creating a scene that is both frosty and radiant.

THE ARTIST'S VOICE

Interpretation / Story

"The Resurgence of Serenity" is a powerful allegory for creative and personal redemption. The act of painting over a "destroyed" canvas speaks to the ability to reclaim one's narrative. The central winged figure, born from this layered history, symbolizes a self that has integrated its past to achieve a higher state of peace. The wintry palette suggests a period of hibernation or hardship, now giving way to a blossoming of spirit, represented by the cascading flowers. The multitude of hidden objects—from the broken to the beautiful—mirrors the fragmented nature of memory and identity, all coalescing into a complex, unified, and divine whole. It is a testament to the idea that our deepest serenity often arises from the conscious mending of what was once fractured.

"From the silent ashes of a forgotten dream, she wove herself anew, with winter's hush and a barn owl's scream."
