ABOUT THE WORK
Artwork Description
A mixed media painting on a 9 x 12 inch canvas, Auric Slumber depicts a child drifting into luminous sleep beneath a veil of light.
The glowing yellows ripple like waves of energy—an ethereal current between waking and dreaming.
Shadows of ink and whispers of blue anchor the radiance, evoking the fragile space between innocence and transcendence.
The piece captures the sanctity of rest as a spiritual threshold, where warmth becomes protection and the unseen world hums just beyond the glow.
This piece reflects themes of pregnancy, transformation, duality of self, and luminous potential.
The pregnant woman and her doubled image suggest simultaneous presence in past, present, and future, exploring identity, memory, and expectation.
The glowing orange sphere and yellow highlights symbolize life force, energy, and the radiant possibility of the child to come.
Textured layers, ink drips, and glitter blur the boundary between material and ethereal, the seen and unseen.
The stairs and hidden figures evoke transition and movement through life’s stages.
On a deeply personal level, Auroral Veil resonates with the artist’s own experience of pregnancy — the synchronicity of the painting’s title with the potential name of her baby girl, Aurora, and the kimono she wore while creating and referencing the imagery.
The work becomes both a meditation on gestation and a celebration of new life, where layers of art and reality intertwine, reflecting hope, anticipation, and the luminous mystery of creation itself.

THE ARTIST'S VOICE
Interpretation / Story
Symbolic and Thematic Interpretation: This piece reflects themes of innocence, dreams, and spiritual light. The sleeping child and glowing stuffy represent comfort and the protective warmth of memory and imagination. The interplay of yellow light, ink, and blue hints evokes the boundary between waking and dreaming, consciousness and unconsciousness. Each ripple of color contributes to a sense of peaceful transcendence and ethereal presence. Overall, Auric Slumber explores the delicate threshold where innocence and light coexist, a visual meditation on warmth, safety, and the unseen currents of the mind.
