ABOUT THE WORK
Artwork Description
A painting that hovers between memory and absence, Absentia captures the delicate echo of a presence long faded.
The portrait seems to breathe through layers of translucent color, as if its subject is emerging from or dissolving into the ether.
The composition hums with the paradox of emptiness that still holds form — a void that remembers shape.
Gentle distortions of face and fabric mirror the distortions of emotion itself.
Here, absence is not a lack, but a quiet storm of what once was, rippling through time and pigment.

THE ARTIST'S VOICE
Interpretation / Story
The struggle to retain identity amid emotional disappearance. In Absentia, presence is defined by its opposite — the ache of what is missing. Faces blur into soft light and dissolve into color; her form is both apparition and echo. The composition evokes the feeling of standing in a memory that refuses to fade. Absence becomes the subject, revealing how emptiness can still carry profound weight.
“She lingers where light forgets, / her shape a sigh beneath the veil.”
